Biathlon: Anna Gandler still not 100% fit
As May 1 marks the official start of preparations for the season that will be marked by the Milan/Cortina 2026 Olympic Games, 24-year-old Austrian Anna Gandler is not yet in full possession of her abilities.
Forced to leave the World Championships in Lenzerheide (Switzerland) prematurely and then to end her season at the beginning of March because of the consequences of a severe bout of flu which forced her to stay in hospital, she is just coming off a ten-day holiday spent in the Maldives in the company, in particular, of her boyfriend Emilien Claude.

“It was pleasant and beautiful, and I was finally able to sleep through the night, she explains in the Kleine Zeitung. The holiday was a bit of therapy, but almost too short, because when I got home I realised once again that things were going in the wrong direction. Unfortunately, the main therapy consists of giving the body a rest and not forcing it. I can’t ignore signals like that.”
To top it all off, his knee is currently causing him problems. “Maybe it’s a family thing. As an athlete, my father also suffered from recurring back and knee problems. And when the body attacks the organs, as I’m doing at the moment, other problems appear. So I have to keep taking care of myself,” says Anna Gandler, who has recently started running, cycling and wheel-skiing.
