Biathlon: men’s sprint in Nove Mesto postponed by 20 minutes
This Thursday, after a five-week break, the Biathlon World Cup resumes in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic) with a men’s sprint. Although it had been planned for months to start at 6.20pm, it will finally kick off 20 minutes later, at 6.40pm, with the start of the Lithuanian Vytautas Strolia.
What’s the reason for this? Quite simply because of the severe weather forecast for the next few hours in Trondheim (Norway), where the Nordic World Ski Championships are currently taking place. This weather episode has forced the Norwegian organisers to revise their programme. A ski jumping competition will start at 5.05pm instead of 4.20pm. As a result, the IBU has moved its race from 6.20pm to 6.40pm.

It’s a question of coordinating the television schedules with the World Championships in Trondheim, where there are changes,” confirms Christian Winkler, IBU Communications Director, to Nordic Magazine. It’s a normal process when there are several major television events.
On Friday, for the same television scheduling reasons, the women’s sprint is now scheduled for 6.25pm instead of 6.20pm.
