Biathlon: silver at the Bakuriani EYOF for Juliette Oliva
On Monday morning, in the women’s individual biathlon at the Bakuriani 2025 European Youth Olympic Festival, 17-year-old Juliette Oliva from Sallanches won a magnificent silver medal.

However, when she finished her race, she didn’t think she’d make it onto the podium at all.
“I don’t really know what’s happening to me, I don’t really understand… I saw at the finish that I was second, but there were only seventeen of us and I thought I was bound to go down [in the rankings], she told Nordic Magazine. I was getting changed and Claire [Breton, the shooting coach, editor’s note] came to get me. When she told me I was second, I was so happy!”
“The culmination of all the preparations over the summer”
It has to be said that Juliette Oliva‘s individual performance, “very stressed” when she woke up, had not started under the best of auspices.
“I made 4/5 on my first shot and I knew I was in the match, but I made 3/5 on my first standing shot. That was a bit of a blow to my morale because I wanted to shoot well. Then I got back on track with a 5/5 and finished with a 4/5”, says the Montblanc native.

With 16/20, she crossed the finish line in second place, nearly 2 minutes behind Slovakia’s Michaela Strakova, who was untouchable with 18/20. “This medal is the culmination of all my preparation over the summer. I’m proud to have achieved this by doing a good biathlon as I wanted to, but I wasn’t at all expecting to come second,” concluded Juliette Oliva.
