Biathlon: Julia Simon (very) doubtful for Sunday’s pursuit
On Friday afternoon, Beaufort biathlete Julia Simon finished twenty-fifth in the women’s sprint at the World Cup in Ruhpolding (Germany). Although she managed to limit the damage with a 10/10 in the shooting, she had a terrible time on cross-country skis, clocking 62nd on the day.
Her coach Cyril Burdet explained her poor form: “She was in doubt and we weren’t sure whether she would race today [Friday]. She’s not really ill, but she’s not really well either, with a bit of a stuck throat. She wanted to race because she doesn’t have a fever,” he revealed to La Chaîne L’Equipe.
Julia Simon was soon back in the hotel after her race and her week in Bavaria is likely to come to a premature end. “ I don’t think she’ll be at the start of the pursuit and she’ll be going back home so that she can recover as quickly as possible,” confirms Cyril Burdet.
