Biathlon: Norway misses out on the podium of a World Championships mixed relay for the first time since 2017
Just a year ago, at the Biathlon World Championships in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic), Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold had a hellish time in the mixed singles relay, where she turned once on the penalty ring after a difficult standing shot.

On Wednesday 12 February, this time in the mixed relay , the Norwegian suffered another nightmare in Lenzerheide, Switzerland. The Scandinavian turned round once in the prone event, but was unable to turn things around in the standing event, where she once again visited the penalty ring.
In distress, the 28-year-old biathlete still struggled to find her words in the mixed zone: “On the prone shot, I couldn’t even see which target was falling. I didn’t know whether I was missing my shots or not. I almost had to double-check why the target wasn’t coming down,” she explained to NRK.

After a difficult winter plagued by heart problems, Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold had imagined a different start to this global event. “I feel bad for the team. It’s normal to be disappointed, but on a relay, there are other people who are also affected,” she lamented in front of the TV2 cameras. I’m also thinking of those who weren’t at the start today. There are people who could have done better than me.

However, as she did last year, the native of Bærum (Norway) was able to count on the invaluable support of her team-mates after the finish line, where Norway finally finished in fifth place after having believed in a podium finish at the very end of the race: “I gave her a hug. We’re a team and nobody should feel alone,” said Sturla Holm Lægreid. ” Ingrid is very experienced and it can happen to anyone,” conceded Johannes Thingnes Boe.
