Biathlon: victory and a gold medal for Louise Roguet
On Friday afternoon, Louise Roguet from Haut-Savoie put in a magnificent performance in the women’s U19 biathlon mass-start at the French championships in Les Saisies (Savoie).
Although she dropped three balls on the mats, the Montblanc native from Praz-de-Lys/Sommand won solo, taking a superb gold medal. “There was a great deal of mental effort in this victory, especially on the last shots, the standing, where I fought hard, she told Nordic Magazine afterwards. On the downhill, I tried to work on my spontaneity, which I’d been lacking since the [Youth] World Championships in Östersund.”

On the piste, Louise Rouget gave her all despite the difficult snow conditions. “I gave it everything I had at the end of a tiring season. I really wanted to finish the season on a high note with this great race, but without any pressure, and it worked! It was hard with the snow churning, so I had to unplug my brain to ignore the pain,” she concludes.
