Biathlon: a dream week in Oberhof for Paula Botet
When Bresse native Paula Botet learned of her selection for the Biathlon World Cup in Oberhof (Germany) at the end of December, she probably wouldn’t have bet a kopek on such a week. “I wouldn’t have believed it”, she admits.
A surprise winner in the sprint on Thursday afternoon, she came second in the mixed singles relay on Sunday lunchtime, in the company of her glorious elder Quentin Fillon-Maillet.

“I love it, the single mixed relays, I did quite a few in the IBU Cup, she told La Chaîne L’Equipe afterwards in the mixed zone. It’s a format I really like! I was surprised, but very happy to do it.” Solid throughout the race, the Vosges native played for victory right up to the end against Germany and Finland, who eventually came out on top.
“I’ve had such a great time, she summed up, looking back on that last thrilling shot. That’s what I’m training for, so I’d love to relive those moments in the future.”
