Biathlon: Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold’s setbacks in the individual short in Kontiolahti
Seventeenth in the individual short race at the Biathlon World Cup in Kontiolahti (Finland) on Wednesday, Norway’s Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold was hampered by heart problems at the end of the race. With a score of 19/20, her final rank and ski time were indeed surprising to explain.
“I had heart problems on the second downward shot, she told NRK in the mixed zone. I had trouble shooting because of my heart rate and I took a long time. But that didn’t stop after the shot, as it was also difficult for me to go as fast as I wanted on the cross-country skis.”
After setting the 98th fastest time on the third run and the 100th fastest time on the fourth lap, Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold had to stop on the track. “I tried to use the tricks I’d learnt to make my problems stop, but it didn’t work and I had to stop along the way to slow my pulse, reveals the Scandinavian. I obviously lost a lot of time, but I had no choice.”
This is not the first time that the Norwegian has suffered heart problems during a race, having suffered ventricular fibrillation at the start of 2021, collapsing in the finish area at Oberhof (Germany).
