17:30. On Friday morning, we learned that German biathlete Franziska Preuss, winner of the crystal globe last season, had withdrawn from the World Cup sprint in Östersund (Sweden).
At the time, the German Ski Association said she had a “sore throat”. On Monday, Franziska Preuss shared her news on Instagram: “Unfortunately, I caught the flu and Covid-19 last week,” she revealed. I’m feeling better, but for now we’ll just have to wait and drink tea. I hope the energy comes back soon!”
She gave no indication of whether she would be taking part in the World Cup in Hochfilzen (Austria), scheduled to start on Friday, but her message suggests that she will be taking a break to return to form in Le Grand-Bornand (Haute-Savoie) before Christmas.
