Biathlon: box syndrome for Oscar Lombardot
During the first few weeks of the 2024/2025 season, 24-year-old Oscar Lombardot from Doubs was in the running to secure his place in the biathlon World Cup. A consistent tenth place in the IBU Cup was not enough, however, and he saw Emilien Claude and Antonin Guigonnat move up to the main circuit.
The Franc-Comtois finished December in the IBU Cup, but was physically hampered by compartment syndrome. “It’s a pain that’s quite complicated to explain, but it compresses the tibia, making it difficult to lift the skis and very difficult to walk at the end of races, he admitted to Nordic Magazine. This syndrome has reared its head since the start of the winter and has really bothered me in all my races.”

So, in consultation with the coaching staff and medical staff, he decided to have botulic acid injections over the Christmas break. “It’s done and, at the moment, I can’t train any more. I’m off for a week and then I’ll be able to resume little by little,” he reveals.
The next round of theIBU Cup, scheduled for 9-12 January in Arber (Germany), will take place without him. “I’m taking it easy and I hope to be back as soon as possible,” concludes a combative Oscar Lombardot.
