Biathlon: Eric Perrot in Hochfilzen with the yellow bib
On Sunday evening, Peiserot Eric Perrot was left on a cloud of elation in Kontiolahti (Finland). He had just won the first mass-start of the winter, taking command of the overall World Cup standings .
“When you dream a lot like I do, you tell yourself during the autumn that you might be able to take the yellow bib thanks to a good start to the season… I was lucky enough to get a little taste of it on the podium – it was magical! The last time I wore a yellow jersey was when I was a kid, when Raphaël Poirée had to hang around my house. This is the real thing and it feels strange. But I’m going to make the most of it and I feel I can live my dream,” explained the French biathlon prodigy in our columns.

From Hochfilzen (Austria), where the World Cup resumes on Friday, Eric Perrot spoke to Nordic Magazine about this magical moment: “Sunday was magnificent. It was really nice to have so many great things happen one after the other between the good race itself, the victory and the yellow jersey. It was full of good feelings. In hindsight, I’m just really happy to have achieved that.”
“I think I have everything I need to do well”
Happy and satisfied to have been able to take some time off at the start of the week to “decompress and appreciate the beautiful things”, the Savoyard is already looking ahead to the next stage.
“The aim is simply to recover and rest as much as possible by having a good night’s sleep, because that’s what works best, he says. We’re also taking advantage of the snow by doing some low-intensity volume training first. After that, we’ll be fine-tuning over the last few days, especially Thursday, to get ready and get into the swing of things for the next race.”

That race was quite simply the Hochfilzen sprint , when he wore the yellow bib in competition for the first time in his life.
“I think the races in Hochfilzen will be even better for me. In general, I improve with each successive race, says an ambitious Eric Perrot. The second weeks suit me well. I think I have everything I need to do well. Now you have to put your plan into action. In the end, that’s what every race is about.”
