Biathlon: Violette Bony back on the international circuit
After taking part in the European Youth Olympic Festival in Vuokatti (Finland) in 2022, Montblanc native Violette Bony has not had the opportunity to don a French team jumpsuit since. After suffering concussion and an ankle injury, she had to make do with the national circuit.
Before the start of the season, however, the Team ENB member told our columns that she was “on the right track”, aiming for a return to international competition. Thanks to a fine start in the French Cup, 21-year-old Violette Bony has achieved just that, securing her place in the Junior Cups in Ridnaun-Val Ridanna (Italy) and Goms (Switzerland) in December.

Above all, she brilliantly won the Italian sprint. “I wasn’t expecting it! It was great because I had done the best I could, giving it my all on the skis and getting the first 10/10 of my life. What‘ s more, my parents were there,” she recalls for Nordic Magazine. It was great to do it! I often saw others doing it, but I never thought it could be me. Even though I’m not in the French team, it enabled me to see that we had worked well with Team ENB.
A tricky 2025 due to iron anaemia
Winner the following week of the mixed relay in Goms and fifth in the mass-start 60, Violette Bony was unable to follow up her success in 2025.
“When I came back, I was extremely tired because of iron anaemia. As soon as I’d done 30 minutes or an hour of training, I’d faint and get dizzy all the time,” says the Haut-Savoyard from the Dragons d’Annecy. I had to put my season on hold, then I started racing again, but I was fainting too… So I wasn’t at my best right up to the end of the season [even though she became French U22 sprint champion, editor’s note].

Despite this, Violette Bony prefers to focus on the positive aspects of her season. “With my new coach [Emilien Personnaz], we’ve found areas for improvement and we’ve worked really hard! Now we know what we need to work on this summer. More generally, there were a lot of good things over the winter, just in terms of learning,” concludes the former Haute-Savoie Nordic Team member.
