Biathlon : victory almost three years later for Lisa Theresa Hauser
On Friday, Austrian Lisa Theresa Hauser put in her best performance for almost three years in the World Cup sprint inÖstersund (Sweden), taking fourth place. This Sunday, the 31-year-old biathlete did even better by claiming her sixth World Cup success, the first since the mass-start in Le Grand-Bornand (Haute-Savoie) on 18 December 2022.

This result was made possible by an impeccable 20/20 behind the rifle and a spectacular last lap. Trailing Finland’s Suvi Minkkinen by 12.1 seconds, the Austrian came back metre after metre to overtake the yellow bib in the final moments.
“It’s incredible, I still can’t believe it. Everything worked perfectly today, even if the last loop was very difficult. I knew this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me, and it’s all the more wonderful that it came to such a close. With my faultless shooting, I laid the foundations for this success”, said Lisa Theresa Hauser in a statement issued by her federation.

With the second fastest time in the pursuit – only beaten by Sweden’s Hanna Oeberg – the biathlete, who has been preparing outside the Austrian national team, confirmed her very good form at the start of the season and claimed her first victory in this format: “ This is a victory that was missing from my list of achievements […] Behind all my successes, there is a huge amount of training and people around me, and I would like to thank them,” she told the Chaîne L’Équipe.
