Biathlon: Natalia Sidorowicz did well in Kontiolahti
Until then, Poland’s Natalia Sidorowicz, 26, had never finished better than 22nd in the biathlon World Cup. Although she finished in the top 20 in the sprint, pursuit and mass start at the last World Championships, she had yet to shine on the world circuit.
Those days are long gone, as the native of Zakopane (Poland) finished a magnificent fourth in the individual short event in Kontiolahti (Finland) on Wednesday.

Her performance was made possible by a perfect shot: “It’s the first time I’ve done 20/20, I still can’t believe it. I’m really happy and surprised,” she explained after her race in an interview with the IBU.
This result is the best for Poland in a World Cup race since… Monika Hojnisz-Starega’s sixth place in the pursuit in Oberhof (Germany) in January 2021. Although she missed out on the podium this time by just 12 seconds, Natalia Sidorowicz will now be aiming to get there in the next few races.
