Biathlon: Juliette Oliva discovers the Junior Cup in Goms on Thursday
Like Maëla Correia, Thémice Fontaine, Enzo Bouillet and Maëlle Achoui, Montblanc’s Juliette Oliva will be donning her very first bib on the Junior Cup biathlon circuit this Thursday at the sprint in Goms (Switzerland).

It was a few weeks ago, at the French Cup in Bessans (Savoie), that the biathlete from Sallanches (Haute-Savoie) won her ticket.
Originally, it wasn’t a major objective to go to the Junior Cup,” she explained to Nordic Magazine. Of course, it was in the back of my mind, because I knew that the two races in Bessans could select me.
Selected after two great races
Third among the qualifiers after Saturday’s sprint in Haute Maurienne Vanoise, Juliette Oliva confirmed this the following day, finishing fourth in the mass-start. Two remarkable performances that are synonymous with qualification.
I wasn’t expecting to have a weekend like this, so I’m really pleased,” says a delighted Juliette Oliva. It shows that, for the time being, the work we put in over the summer has paid off. It’s very satisfying.

This summer’s work focused in particular on the speed and spontaneity of her shot. ” We also worked quite a bit on technique on the skis, particularly the one-stroke uphill or the combined on the flats,” she adds.
“I go there to discover and learn”.
Currently based in the Goms valley, Juliette Oliva – who took part in last winter’s European Youth Olympic Festival – will be discovering the Junior Cup this week.

“I’m not thinking too much about the fact that it’s my first, and I’m not putting any pressure on myself. I’m going there to discover and learn, and we’ll see what happens,” she says in the end. I have no idea what I’m worth, especially as I’ll be racing against 2005s who have two years more experience than me. I’m not setting myself any particular targets, but I want to learn, have some good races and be proud of myself when I cross the line.
