Biathlon: first World Cup day for Camille Bened
It’s Camille Bened‘s big day. A week after lifting the crystal globe at the IBU Cup in Otepää (Estonia), the 24-year-old from Chablais will be making her first appearance on the biathlon World Cup circuit at the sprint inOslo-Holmenkollen (Norway).
At precisely 4.58pm, when she pushes through the start gate wearing number 76, Camille Bened will officially become a biathlete who has taken part in a race on the most prestigious of international circuits.

“For me, it’s a crazy thing, she tells Nordic Magazine. The last two years have been so complicated for me [due to overtraining and then injury, editor’s note]. I saw all the girls who were in the group with me go up to the World Cup and get results… At one point, I even wondered if I was going to get my chance one day by going for this opportunity. Going up the World Cup is every biathlete’s dream. I’m really happy!”
His family will be on hand to cheer him on
On this World Cup debut, Camille Bened will be getting up close and personal with the very best in her sport after spending all winter on the lower circuit.
“I want to enjoy myself and live the experience to the full, but also try to do my biathlon at 100% to show what I’m capable of, says the biathlete from Chablais Nordic. With the results of my last few races, there’s every chance of achieving great things! I want to show myself at my best.”

Especially as a dozen members of his family, including his younger sister Chloé Bened, a former biathlete, will be in the stands to cheer him on. “It’s going to be a crazy weekend because it’s a legendary venue and the Boe brothers’ careers will also be coming to an end. I’m expecting something incredible with a crazy world”, she concludes.
