Biathlon: Eric Perrot speaks out on Johannes Thingnes Boe’s future retirement
Last Saturday at midday, Johannes Thingnes Boe announced his decision to end his biathloncareer at the end of the season in the press room at Ruhpolding (Germany) . It was a decision taken during the Christmas break to focus on his family life a year earlier than planned.
Since the announcement, there have been many reactions from the Nordic skiing world. Several of his current and former rivals, including Martin Fourcadeand Emilien Jacquelin, have spoken out.

The Peiserot Eric Perrot had not yet done so in length. “It certainly leaves a gap, he explained to Nordic Magazine from Antholz (Italy) in the middle of the week. I was lucky at the start of my career to race against a legend from the top 3 in biathlon history. It was an honour and allowed me to learn a lot by being able to watch him and race with him. I was also lucky enough to beat him once or twice on all the occasions when he destroyed us! I’m going to take advantage of him in his final races.”
Looking ahead to next season, in a world cup without a leader, Eric Perrot believes that “another champion is bound to come along”. “Now there won’t be the great leader of recent years, he agrees. There will be several of us fighting for that position. Historically, in the men’s biathlon, there have always been leaders who have reigned for quite a few years. There are going to be plenty of us with our teeth into that position.”
