Biathlon: Lou Jeanmonnot, the boss of the circuit
Since the beginning of January, Lou Jeanmonnot from Doubs has been flying high over the biathlon World Cup. With the exception of a (relative) miss at the weekend in the last mass-start in Ruhpolding (Germany), she has won four of the six races she has contested.
In short, she is the boss of the circuit. “When she’s at her best, she’s unbeatable! Over the course of a season, she’s the boss,” Gilles Marguet, Olympic medallist in the relay in 2002, told us in our columns after the World Cup in Oberhof (Germany).

Since then, Lou Jeanmonnot has proved it… and even more so this week in Antholz (Italy). Ultra-dominant, the Frenchwoman achieved a superb sprint/chase double, appearing to be untouchable. “I would have liked to have done 20 out of 20 to dominate from A to Z, but I’d never felt like that”, she explained to Ski Chrono on Saturday following her success in the pursuit.
Another unprecedented situation
It has to be said that this season, the Pontissalienne by birth is experiencing many new situations, and this was yet another one. On fire on the skis, she did her utmost to stay on her mark on the mats.
“I had a revenge [to take] compared to the mass-start in Ruhpolding, she says. I really focused on racing alone, knowing that I’m good on skis and therefore slower and calmer on the shooting range.”

With a score of 19/20, she was able to secure a solo victory. “I enjoyed it a lot, but I still had a hard time of it on the last lap because I was afraid Julia [Simon] would come back,” she concludes.
