Biathlon: Amandine Mengin on fire in Arber
Amandine Mengin is currently on cloud nine. Discovering the IBU Cup biathlon circuit in Arber (Germany) this week, the Bresse native has racked up three podium finishes in three races in Bavaria. Winner of the first sprint on Thursday, then second in the second sprint on Saturday, she won the pursuit on Sunday morning.
With a cheeky 20/20 on the shooting range, the biathlete from the Massif des Vosges put in a demonstration performance this time. Giving no-one a chance to fight for victory, Amandine Mengin won yet again on the World Cup satellite circuit.

Behind her, Gilonne Guigonnat having put the arrow down after the second shot, it was Norway’s Ragnhild Femsteinevik (18/20) who climbed onto the second step of the podium, at 30 sec 4. Montblanc’s Voldiya Galmace-Paulin (18/20), for her part, finished third and made it two podium finishes in a row in the IBU Cup. She also climbed to third place overall.

All this while managing to break Sophie Chauveau (16/20), sixth on the day, on the last shot. Marthe Kraakstad Johansen (18/20) was fifth… just behind Camille Bened (18/20) from Chablais, fourth and solid leader of the overall ranking.
The day’s top 10 was completed by Kristina Oberthaler (20/20), Stefanie Scherer (18/20), Marlene Fichtner (19/20) and Karoline Erdal (17/20). Newly-qualified Brazilian Gaia Brunello (17/20) equalled her career-best result with thirty-sixth place.
