Biathlon: Norway untouchable in the IBU Cup

The sixth and final men’s race in the first block of the 2024/2025 IBU Biathlon Cup season was another Norwegian display. On the slopes and shooting range of the Geilo Skiarena, on home soil, the kingdom’s biathletes repeated their sprint triple in the pursuit.

However, there was suspense right to the end between Martin Uldal (20/20) and Johan-Olav Botn (19/20). After two perfect first shots together, the former made the difference in the first standing shot, making no mistakes unlike his compatriot. Resisting his opponent’s comeback in the final lap, he won by 6.5 seconds to complete the sprint/chase double. Together with Isak Frey‘s fifth place (18/20), this gave him the overall lead in the B circuit rankings.

The podium was completed, as on the previous day, by Sverre Dahlen Aspenes (17/20)… nearly 2 minutes behind. Simon Kaiser (18/20) was fourth, Roman Rees (17/20) sixth, Sivert Guttorm Bakken (18/20) seventh, Lucas Fratzscher (18/20) eighth and Mats Oeverby (19/20) ninth. Rounding out the top 10 is Oscar Lombardot (14/20).

Théo Guiraud-Poillot (19/20) finished eleventh, whileAxel Garnier (16/20) was nineteenth, Gaëtan Paturel (14/20) twenty-second and Damien Levet (16/20) thirty-first.
