Biathlon : six French women in the top 15 at Obertilliach
It didn’t take long to see Gilonne Guigonnat playing a leading role in a biathlon competition since her exclusion from the World Cup group currently competing at Le Grand-Bornand in Haute-Savoie. On Thursday, the French biathlete came second in the sprint at the IBU Cup in Obertilliach (Austria).

The resident of the Villard-sur-Boëge ski club (Haute-Savoie) made a single mistake in the standing shot, but then did what she had to do on the piste to aim for the top of the rankings. Fifth fastest skier of the day, beaten by just 5 seconds by the surprising Italian Ilaria Scattolo (10/10), she was ahead of another Frenchwoman in the day’s top 3.

Behind her, Paula Botet asserted her status as current leader of the World Cup antechamber. The best time on the boards, the Vosgian, despite two faults on the mats, once again found the necessary resources to break into the top 3.
The French double was enhanced by a solid overall performance from the blue contingent. Still well placed, Camille Bened (8/10) confirmed her excellent start to the season by finishing fifth, while Chloé Chevalier (8/10) took eleventh place, just ahead of twelfth-placed Fany Bertrand (9/10). Voldiya Galmace-Paulin (7/10) continued to impress, finishing thirteenth.
