Biathlon: the sprint/pursuit double for Voldiya Galmace-Paulin
At this week’sIBU Biathlon Cup in Ridnaun-Val Ridanna (Italy), Voldiya Galmace-Paulin is untouchable. Winner of the sprint two days ago with a 10/10, the 19-year-old from Montblanc took the lead in the pursuit early on Friday afternoon.

Although this was a major first for her at international level, she rose to the occasion. Missing just one target during her four runs on the mats, Voldiya Galmace-Paulin even had the luxury of nipping suspense in the bud. After the last shot, she had a lead of nearly 40 seconds over her nearest rival.

The Nordic-born Voldiya Galmace-Paulin completed an impressive sprint/chase double and extended her lead at the top of the overall IBU Cup rankings over Camille Bened (18/20), who finished fourth on the day. On the pursuit podium, Voldiya Galmace-Paulin was joined by Norway’s Marte Kraakstad Johansen (19/20) and Sophie Chauveau (17/20), who had a fine second half of the race.

Juni Arnekleiv (18/20), fifth, and Amandine Mengin (18/20), sixth, took part in the flower ceremony. Paula Botet (15/20), with four errors on her standing shots, finished seventh, while Gilonne Guigonnat did not finish the race.
In the race for a replacement ticket for the World Championships in Lenzerheide (Switzerland), the Chablais native now seems to be out of the running, while Paula Botet and Sophie Chauveau, both podium finishers in Italy, will be battling it out again this Saturday in the mass-start 60.
