Biathlon: a tight men’s sprint in Ridnaun-Val Ridanna
The IBU Biathlon Cup in Ridnaun-Val Ridanna (Italy) opened this Wednesday morning with the men’s sprint. The big favourites for the event, as in every race on the B circuit, the Norwegians found better opponents in this event, with Germany’s David Zobel (10/10) taking victory.

At the age of 28, the newly crowned European relay vice-champion won the IBU Cup for the third time in his career. It was his perfect shot that enabled him to withstand the onslaught of his rivals, with Sivert Guttorm Bakken (8/10), who set the fastest ski time of the day, just 2.9 seconds behind.

American Paul Schommer (9/10), at 5 sec 0, finished third and took his second podium on the circuit… more than 5 years after his first.

The flower ceremony was completed by Sweden’s Anton Ivarsson (9/10), Norway’s Johannes Dale-Skjevdal (7/10) and Moldova’s Maksim Makarov (9/10). Johan-Olav Botn (8/10), Greenland’s Sondre Slettemark (10/10), excellent eighth, Isak Frey (7/10) and Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen (7/10) follow in the top 10.
For the French, Gaëtan Paturel (8/10) was twelfth, Oscar Lombardot (8/10) thirteenth, Rémi Broutier (8/10) twentieth and Théo Guiraud-Poillot (8/10) twenty-sixth.
