Biathlon: Les Bleus win the first mixed relay of the winter in the IBU Cup
This Wednesday morning, the IBU Biathlon Cup in Lenzerheide (Switzerland) kicked off with a mixed relay. On the site of the 2025 World Championships, where France won the world title in the discipline last February, the French B circuit triumphed.
However, the race got off to a poor start with Emilien Claude from Bassur spinning on the penalty ring during his standing shot. As a result, he handed over to Damien Levet in sixteenth place at 43.6 seconds, between Japan and China. It was then that the Tricolores began a remarkable comeback.

With two picks, the Bornandin man put Les Bleus back in seventh place… but the gap with the leaders remained stable (+43 sec 2). In the end, it was Montblanc’s Voldiya Galmace-Paulin who put the French back in the game for the podium and victory , using only a small pick when standing up.

Dropped into third place 17.9 seconds behind the leader, Beaufort’s Célia Henaff, up against Germany’s Hanna Kebinger, Norway’s Siri Skar and Italy’s Michela Carrara, proved to be the superior competitor. Although she had to pay two extra balls to clear her five standing targets, she came out on the skis of the German… whom she easily outdistanced in the final kilometres.

Frenchfavourites Emilien Claude, Damien Levet, Voldiya Galmace-Paulin and Célia Henaff won the first IBU Cup mixed relay of the winter. Italy(Nicola Romanin, Didier Bionaz, Martina Trabucchi, Michela Carrara) came second, ahead of Germany(Roman Rees, Lucas Fratzscher, Sophia Schneider, Hanna Kebinger).

Norway(Vetle Paulsen, Kasper Kalkenberg, Emilie Kalkenberg, Siri Skar) had to be content with fourth place despite using four small picks.
