Biathlon: an IBU Cup victory for Théo Guiraud-Poillot and Amandine Mengin on their first mixed singles relay team-up

The French biathlon team’s harvest continues at the IBU Cup in Sjusjøen (Norway). A few hours after Damien Levet, Gaëtan Levet, Voldiya Galmace-Paulin and Jeanne Richard won the week’s opening mixed relay, the mixed singles relay was also won by Les Bleus.

Teaming up for the first time, Montblanc’s Théo Guiraud-Poillot and Vosges’ Amandine Mengin put in a more than solid performance on the mats, using just four picks. However, at the halfway stage, the French duo were 42.9 seconds off the lead, which was held by Austrians Lukas Haslinger and Dunja Zdouc, who had been shooting perfectly until then.

The second part of the mixed singles relay was magnificent for the French, with a 19/20 in the shooting and, above all, a magnificent 10/10 by the Bressaude in the final. She arrived at the last stand with Austria’s Dunja Zdouc and Sweden’s Sara Andersson, and was the only one who managed to make the most of it to emerge alone in the lead and cross the finish line first.

Austria(Lukas Haslinger, Dunja Zdouc) took second place at 20 seconds 9 seconds, while Sweden(Oscar Andersson, Sara Andersson) completed the podium at 48 seconds 7 seconds, just ahead of Norway with Vebjoern Soerum and Gro Randby. Slovakia, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy and Poland followed in the top 10.
