Biathlon: Ida Lien suffers back injury
Fourth in the sprint and pursuit in Oslo-Holmenkollen (Norway) at the end of last World Cup season, Norwegian biathlete Ida Lien was due to compete for a place on the most prestigious of circuits this weekend in Geilo (Norway).
However, the native of Drammen (Norway), the 2021 world relay champion, has injured her back and will have to withdraw from the opening Norwegian races on Saturday and Sunday. “She wanted to take part, but the competition has come a little too early for her. The timing isn’t ideal, especially as her health comes first,” her shooting coach Patrick Oberegger told TV2.

Ida Lien will not be launching her international winter in Östersund (Sweden) on the World Cup circuit, but in the IBU Cup in Obertilliach (Austria) at the beginning of December.
According to theNorwegian Biathlon Association‘s selection document, she is effectively pre-qualified for the event thanks to her performances last winter (top 25 in the overall World Cup rankings).
