Biathlon: Elvira Oeberg wins in the wind
Beaten on Saturday in the individual short by her compatriot Anna Magnusson, Elvira Oeberg was determined to bring the opening Swedish biathlon races to a close this Sunday in Idre Fjäll (Sweden). And the Swede got the job done in the sprint. Although she was twice at fault, the Scandinavian didn’t waver despite the day’s strong winds.

In fine form on her skis, the 25-year-old biathlete lived up to her billing, leaving nothing but crumbs for her team-mates and rivals on the day. With a margin of more than 48 seconds over Anna Karin Heijdenberg (7/10) when she crossed the line, last year’s best under-25 in the World Cup was well on her way.

On the third step of the podium was Ella Halvarsson, who made three mistakes. She had to work hard to beat Ukraine’s Khrystyna Dmytrenko (9/10) by just three seconds. Latvia’s Baiba Bendika (8/10) rounded off the top 5.
