Biathlon: Julia Simon gives her news
During the mixed relay at the biathlon world championships in Lenzerheide (Switzerland) on Wednesday, Julia Simon from Beaufort fell. In the first loop of her run, she got a taste of the snow after tangling with the skis of Sweden’s Anna Magnusson.
Slamming her head against the ground, the new double world champion in the mixed relay then suffered violent headaches. On Thursday, twenty-four hours after this event, Julia Simon decided to skip the official training session on the eve of the sprint. “It was deliberate, out of concern for her health, Cyril Burdet told L’Equipe at the time. [But don’t worry, she should be at the start of the sprint.”
This Friday morning, in an Instagram story published on the official account of the French Ski Federation (FFS), the Savoyard, sitting on her bed, gave some news.
“It’s where I spend most of my time at the moment, she says. I’ll be on the bus shortly. I’ve got a bit of aches and pains coming through, [especially in] my arms, and the headache is still a bit sore, but that’s fine. I’ll be ready by 3 p.m.”
Julia Simon, wearing the gold bib of the reigning world champion, is due to start at 3.29pm, in forty-eighth position.
