Biathlon: Linn Gestblom back in the game
After two operations on her right shoulder, the last of which was in February 2024, Swedish biathlete Linn Gestblom (formerly Linn Persson) was forced in November to write off her entire 2024/2025 season.
For the past few days, she has been back in the team spirit in Crete, at the training camp organised on the Greek island. Although she is on the right track , she is still unable to train to her full potential.
“I can do anything, but it’s mainly a question of timing, she tells SVT Sport. I’m reducing certain sessions and giving a bit more time to recovery after doing something difficult for my shoulder. It’s hard not to do too much when you’re feeling good.”

For the first time in a long time, Linn Gestblom says that her operated shoulder is “healthy and stable”. In the prone shot, for example, she has abandoned the harness she was using rather than the armband usually used by biathletes. “So far, it’s worked well,” she explains.
During her long convalescence, the Swede revealed that she had thought about switching to a left-handed shot. “It was clearly on the agenda, especially as I’m left-handed,” she says, although the idea never came to fruition.
