Biathlon: worst Grand-Bornand since 2017 for Quentin Fillon-Maillet
It was only the second time since the 2017 Biathlon World Cup in Le Grand-Bornand (Haute-Savoie) that Quentin Fillon-Mailler had had such a low-scoring week in Haute-Savoie.
Already in trouble last year in the Aravis, the double Olympic champion was unable to find the solutions on the Sylvie-Becaert stadium where he shone so brightly in 2019 and 2021, taking three podiums, including one victory, and taking part in three other flower ceremonies.

It has to be said that Quentin Fillon-Maillet largely fell back on his prone shooting, missing two bullets in the sprint, the pursuit and then the mass start. Naturally, with such tricky starts, the results didn’t follow and the Jurassien finished twentieth, fourteenth and twenty-sixth in front of his supporters.
“It’s infuriating and I’m very disappointed”.
“It’s infuriating and I’m very disappointed. I’ve got a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth, even though I enjoyed sharing it with the public,” he told Nordic Magazine on Sunday evening after the mass start. I’m doing everything I can to try and be the best, but I don’t have the natural ease of Lou [Jeanmonnot], which I’d love to have. I made some easy mistakes, of course, but I didn’t go into the shoot thinking it was easy.

Currently seventh in the world without a top 6 finish in the last five individual races, Quentin Fillon-Maillet nevertheless left for his end-of-year holidays with the confidence he had gained from his winning pursuit in Östersund (Sweden) at the beginning of December.
“I’m going to try to come back much stronger in January by continuing to build up my recumbent shot to gain confidence”, he promises, while he is satisfied with his physical form, which is more than adequate. By improving his statistics on the mats, Quentin Fillon-Maillet has all the cards in his hand to shine again in 2026. With the Olympic goal in his sights.
