Biathlon: Martin Uldal sets a world record
We’ve known him to be capable of some impressive shots on the biathlon World Cup since he made his debut in mid-winter, but this Sunday, in the mixed singles relay on the Pokljuka stage (Slovenia), Martin Uldal stepped into another dimension.

Even though he only finished ninth after his team-mate Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold was penalised four times, the Norwegian only missed two of his four target shots. And the 23-year-old was particularly impressive in his first standing round.

Indeed, by shooting in precisely 12 seconds and 5 tenths, the Scandinavian quite simply broke the world record in this exercise. An express passage over the mats punctuated by a superb 5/5 as a bonus: “It’s pretty crazy. What‘ s more, I managed to fill up,” he congratulated himself to NRK. I’ve already managed some quick shots in my career, but this one was even better.
It was a real masterstroke that was praised by her compatriot Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold, who was more unfortunate in the shooting on this Sunday’s race. “It’s really very impressive. I think I just have to follow Martin at every training session and every session,” she joked in the mixed zone.

Coach of the Norwegian team, Frenchman Siegfried Mazet was equally impressed by his protégé and his extraordinary shooting ability. It was incredible, but we know Martin can do it,” he admitted. He’s really good at shooting fast. It’s one thing to do it in training, but it’s even better to do it in the World Cup.
