Biathlon: Norway’s World Cup runner set for a comeback?
On Wednesday, Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold underwent successful heart surgery.
In a statement, the Norwegian biathlete said she was “feeling well” and had already resumed “light training”.
The 28-year-old sportswoman was treated for atrioventricular nodal reentry tachycardia (AVNRT), which is a type of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia resulting from the presence of a reentry circuit within or adjacent to the AV node. This can lead to episodes of abnormally high pulse, as Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold experienced during two races in Kontiolahti (Finland) not long ago.
“I could have raced in Hochfilzen and Le Grand Bornand without noticing anything, because with the exception of Kontiolahti, that hadn’t happened since the 2022 Olympics. But now I had the chance to have an operation,” she explained.
She doesn’t know exactly when she’ll be back competing, but it shouldn’t be too long.
“I think I’ll be able to come back to the World Cup quite quickly next year. But it’s too early to say whether I’ll be in Oberhof,” she concluded.
