Biathlon: Eric Perrot came close to the podium in Oberhof
Late on Thursday morning, Peiserot Eric Perrot came sixth in the Biathlon World Cup sprint in Oberhof (Germany), the first race of 2026. Although he started the race immaculately with a 5/5 score in the prone event, he fell apart in the standing event, missing two targets. Not enough, therefore, to reach the podium and score big points in the overall rankings.
“I’m disappointed [by the double fault on the standing ball]. It’s frustrating,” he told La Chaîne L’Equipe afterwards. I gave it my all, as usual, and I was focused, knowing that a 10/10 would have meant victory. Two [balls] went out.

In difficult conditions marked by fog, Eric Perrot was unable to master the standing shot. ” There’s no excuse for it, we were all on an equal footing, but I’m still happy with my work on the skis”, he says, finding one positive point in his race.

I’m happy, it was a step forward that I wanted to make at Christmas and I’m happy to see that it’s working, to know that when I put something in place, it works,” he continues. I’m continuing to make progress. But, unfortunately, it doesn’t pay off in biathlon when you make two mistakes.
Placed around thirty seconds behind the leaders ahead of Saturday’s pursuit, Eric Perrot could be in for a real treat. ” There will be some great things to come”, he promises, ending his appearance in the mixed zone by paying tribute to Tommaso Giacomel, who won two weeks after the death of his friend Sivert Guttorm Bakken.
