Biathlon: Tarjei Boe had a great summer
On July 6th, in his hometown of Stryn (Norway), Tarjei Boe married his partner Gita Simonsen. A month and a half later, the newlyweds flew to the Maldives, the chosen destination for their honeymoon. Currently training in Lenzerheide (Switzerland), the Norwegian recounted these unforgettable moments to our colleagues at TV2.
“The honeymoon was really perfect. We haven’t had this kind of vacation for a few years and since we became parents,” he admits. “It was exactly what we needed. It’s important to nurture love amidst everything we do. But now, I have a bit of work to do before the new season.”
Indeed, during training at the 2025 World Championships site, the veteran of the Norwegian team reassured himself about his current form. “The form is very good. I had just returned from my honeymoon, so I was a bit unsure about my physical condition,” he admits. “But it’s nice to feel in shape here after lying on a deckchair.”
Filled with happiness in both his personal and professional life, the thirty-six-year-old biathlete also took the opportunity to share a funny anecdote about his union with his wife. “Gita is always late, and she was half an hour late to the church, so I sat there and waited,” he says laughing. “I don’t know what the others thought. I knew she would come, but it was a bit like in a Hollywood movie where there was a period when she wouldn’t come.”
“I want to be with him more [his son, Editor’s note]” Tarjei Boe to TV2
Realizing the importance of his family life, Tarjei Boe had announced in the spring that biathlon would no longer be his priority compared to his family. “I’m a father, so in winter, I spend too little time with my son,” he admits. “I want to be with him more. He gets cooler and funnier day by day.”
