Biathlon: a tough weekend for Vebjoern Soerum
Only forty-sixth in the sprint on Saturday, Norwegian biathlete Vebjoern Soerum abandoned the mass start of the opening races in Geilo (Norway) this Sunday afternoon.
There‘s something wrong with my body,” he told TV2 after taking off his race number. It feels like there’s something stuck and I have absolutely no circulation [blood] in my body.”

Although he explained that he had “worked hard” to find the solution, Vebjoern Soerum regretted that “no one can understand what it is”. For example, he had to put his foot down on the fourth of the five laps of the day’s mass-start: “It was incredibly painful, I couldn’t push”, he says, adding that it was a muscular problem.
Having already qualified for the World Cup in Östersund (Sweden) thanks to his performances last winter, Vebjoern Soerum now has two weeks to get back into form.
