Biathlon: Lisa Vittozzi needs to get back on track
She was the big absentee from the 2024/2025 biathlon season. Injured during the summer preparations, Lisa Vittozzi never really recovered from her various physical problems and the Italian ended up withdrawing for the entire winter. A significant absence, given that she was none other than the outgoing winner of the crystal globe in the World Cup.

Since then, the Alpine biathlete has been back in the spotlight, taking the time to recover 100%. Over the last few days, the 30-year-old biathlete took part in her first training camp of the new preparation programme. In Val Martello (Italy), the native of Pieve di Cadore (Italy) trained alone under the guidance ofEdoardo Mezzaro and Alex Inderst.
The coach in charge of shooting, Edoardo Mezzaro, spoke to Gazzetta Matin about his protégée’s return: “With what happened last year and her injury, she now needs to get back to normal. The main objective is to try and get her back into shape as quickly as possible, so that we can then match the work of the other girls,” he explains.

“After her back problems and missing a whole winter, it’s now necessary to start again gradually. She will continue to be closely monitored by the medical staff,” confirms the Italian coach. The aim is to gradually bring her back to the level she was at before the injury. It will be a different kind of preparation, which will require a little patience. Alex and I will support her during the preparation, and then when it’s possible, she’ll be partially reintegrated into the group.
