Biathlon: Anna Magnusson back on top
The last timeAnna Magnusson was on the box in the World Cup, the race was won by Denise Herrmann-Wick. So the Swede’s last podium finish was a long way off. On 18 March 2023, during the sprint in Oslo (Norway) to be precise.

On Friday 5 December, almost three years later, she was back in the saddle again, finishing 2nd in the Östersund sprint behind Finland’s Suvi Minkkinen.Impeccable against the targets (10/10), she set the 10th fastest time in skiing. On the track, she was faster than Lou Jeanmonnot and was on the same times as the Italians Lisa Vittozzi and Dorothea Wierer and her compatriot Elvira Oeberg. ” I had very good skis”, she summed up forEurosport, while Swedish technicians have an advantage at home.
Third overall after two events
Speaking to the broadcaster, the 20th-placed woman in the 2024-2025 overall highlighted her performance behind the rifle: “In the individual event, I didn’t shoot very fast because I suffered from the wind. Today, I wanted to be more aggressive on the shooting range. Everything went well and it was a great day for me.

With the Swedish media, she was much more demonstrative. “I’ll never forget it. I’ve trained here for so many hours, thousands of times… My family is here. I’m much happier than I could have imagined. It’s great to be doing this at the age of 30,” she toldAftonbladet. Her first coach was also present in the stands, as reported by Expressen.
After 2 of the 21 races this season, she is in 3rd place overall, 7 points behind the yellow Suvi Minkkinen. That’s enough for her to be in with a chance of overtaking her in the pursuit on Sunday 7 December (13:15).
