Biathlon: Léonie Jeannier heads for Savoie
At the end of last month, 22-year-old Léonie Jeannier from Doubs was one of the losers in the selection of the French biathlon teams for the 2025/2026 season. A member of the federal groups for the last two summers, she has effectively lost her place.
After this news, I had to think about a future project that I’d already anticipated in my head at the end of the season, so as not to be taken by surprise,” she tells Nordic Magazine . At the start, I thought I’d go off on my own again and get a personal trainer, so that I could then take part in the selections on my own.

But Léonie Jeannier quickly asked herself “the right questions” and came to one conclusion: “I didn’t want to spend a year training alone. I see it more as a team effort.
She hit it off with Franck Perrot, the group’s coach
That’s how she came to be close to Fany Bertrand, who was also dismissed from the FFS groups in the spring.
Fany Bertrand and I called each other and we said we had to train together so that we could benefit from each other’s progress,” explains the Franc-Comtoise native. She told me she’d like to join the Savoie Nordic team and I’d also heard Camille Coupé, who I get on well with, was also interested, as were Violette Bony and Eva Laine. I really wanted to go there.

Especially as Léonie Jeannier has hit it off with Franck Perrot, the coach of the Savoie post-baccalaureate group. ” I worked with him briefly, particularly during the French Cup, and I really liked his approach to training,” she admits.
“I’m leaving the Jura Massif to try and get back into the French team and do well”.
So she applied to join the Savoie ski committee.
And it was approved, with the proviso that I had to change clubs to join the committee,” explains Léonie Jeannier. It’s the hardest thing for me because I’m attached to my club in Verrières/La Cluse, which is chaired by my sister. I’m leaving the Jura mountains to try and get back into the French team and do well. It’s a tough choice, but I like it. Sometimes you have to make choices like this to get ahead!

With Fany Bertrand, Camille Coupé, Thémice Fontaine, Eva Laine and Violette Bony, Léonie Jeannier will be preparing for the forthcoming season, in a sort of French second team.
“It’s a great opportunity to get together again, especially as I think we’ll get on well together. Having fun training is always a plus”, she enthuses. In September, just a few weeks before the important FFS selections at the start of the season, the Doubiste skier will be moving to La Féclaz (Savoie).
