Biathlon: a demonstration by Anna-Karin Heijdenberg
This week, Sweden’s Anna-Karin Heijdenberg, 24, is taking part in the European Biathlon Championships in Martell-Val Martello (Italy). Competing with Johanna Skottheim for the last available place at the World Championships, she got off to a magnificent start.
After getting a tan on Wednesday in the individual race, she won the sprint on Friday morning. With a 10/10 score and a fantastic ski time, she even dominated the race, beating silver-plated Amandine Mengin by almost 50 seconds.

It’s been an incredible day,” she told Nordic Magazine. As soon as I warmed up, I could feel that my body was in good shape. I really wanted to make the most of the opportunity, and I did! I really enjoyed shooting cleanly, working on each ball. Winning gold is absolutely incredible.
From 11am on Saturday morning, she will be leading the pursuit and could well take advantage of the opportunity to claim another continental title. In the history of the European championships, six girls have achieved it, the last time being Ukrainian Olena Pidhrushna in 2012.
