Biathlon: a victory before heading to Lenzerheide for Quentin Fillon-Maillet
Quentin Fillon-Maillet arrived at the French Biathlon Cup in La Féclaz (Savoie) with the intention of getting his bearings and testing himself. That has now been achieved. A brilliant winner of the sprint on Saturday with a perfect 10/10, the Frenchman confirmed that he is in good shape just four days before the season’s big event.

The World Championships in Lenzerheide (Switzerland) have been eagerly awaited by everyone for several weeks now. TheFrench team decided to travel to Savoie, as they did last year, to build up their intensity before the big event. The Jurassien quickly made the most of the opportunity.
“A win is always good to take, especially when you’re preparing for the World Championships. I’ve been chasing my shot for a while now and I’ve only missed one of the forty shots I’ve hit in the last three races. I’m very satisfied with that,” he congratulated himself in the mixed zone. I’ve also been able to confirm that I’m still in good shape. Putting on a bib in the French Cup is always a nice experience, rather than doing the session on your own at home. It’s a real confrontation.

With his confidence now boosted, the 32-year-old biathlete now turns his attention to the global event, where he will naturally be keen to go for individual world gold, the only title missing from his solid list of honours. “The World Cup is more ‘boring’ because we meet up more regularly. Here, most of the athletes want to perform and I’m looking forward to it too. It’s an event I’m looking forward to,” he says. Especially as I haven’t had the hoped-for start to the season. I want to really step up a gear in this season to finally confirm that my skiing feels good.
“I like the track profile, the setting and the crowd”.Quentin Fillon-Maillet in the mixed zone about the Worlds in Lenzerheide
On site, Quentin Fillon-Maillet and the Tricolor clan will have to acclimatise to the altitude of the Swiss resort, which rises to over 1,500 metres: “I don’t have much experience here compared to other places we go to in other seasons. In any case, I like the profile of the track, the setting and the crowd. But in any case, I’ll have to be good and that will allow me to appreciate it a bit more [Laughs]”, he admitted.
