Biathlon : Linn Gestblom third on her comeback
Linn Gestblom couldn’t have hoped for a better comeback. More than twenty months after her last competitive appearance on snow, the Swede made a dazzling comeback by taking third place in the opening sprint at Idre Fjäll (Sweden), beaten only by Hanna and Elvira Oeberg.
“It’s great to have had a good race. It means I can finally take a breather. It’s not so far away any more. I can be there and fight for victory,” the Scandinavian declared at the finish to the SVT radio.

The 31-year-old biathlete is coming off two nightmarish years, marked by repeated shoulder problems, an operation and a long rehabilitation period that kept her off the skis since the winter of 2023/24. But on her return, she immediately got back into the swing of things with a 10/10 behind the rifle. She admits, however, that she lacked a few reference points.
“I had a bit of trouble knowing how fast to go. I don’t know if it was the stage fright from the first time. I was a bit stressed, so maybe it wasn’t the perfect skiing I was hoping for. But the important thing is to be happy.
