Biathlon: personal best for Chamonix’s Maxime Germain
On Saturday afternoon, Franco-American biathlete Maxime Germain, 24, showed himself to be more than positive during the Biathlon World Cup sprint in Östersund (Sweden).
The Chamonix native, who clocked 9/10 and a great time on his cross-country skis, finished eleventh, his best result on the world circuit. Until then, he had done no better than twentieth, a year ago in the individual short race that opened the 2024/2025 season in Kontiolahti (Finland).

Achieving this personal best shows Maxime [Germain]’s consistency and reflects the continuous progress he has made,” enthused his coach Armin Auchentaller, in a statement issued by US Biathlon. It’s always exciting to see him push the limits of what’s possible and to see him place himself among the best in the world. It’s great to see him go from strength to strength year after year!

With this performance, Maxime Germain has taken an important step towards qualifying for the Olympic Games in Milan/Cortina 2026. ” He has met the phase 2 selection criteria, which require an individual result in the top 20 in a World Cup race in the first quarter”, US Biathlon stated.
