Biathlon: Franziska Preuss crowned in a thriller
This Sunday, the biathlon World Cup season came to an end after a crazy mass-start. In the sunshine of Oslo-Holmenkollen (Norway), Franziska Preuss and Lou Jeanmonnot fought it out once again, to the point where they were battling it out for the crystal globe in the final round.

And just a few metres from the finish, the Frenchwoman crashed out on one of the last bends of the Norwegian course. It was a cruel disappointment for the Doubiste, who had donned the yellow bib the day before after a masterful chase that had put her ahead in the overall rankings.
Freshly crowned world number one, the biathlete from the other side of the Rhine seems to have done nothing wrong, as no complaint has been lodged against her. “It was a difficult situation. I had nothing to do with it, but you can’t win like that. I would have preferred us to fight to the end,” she told her federation. Unfortunately, that’s what happened and I’ve already told Lou that everyone has to go their own way.

“It was a challenge we were up against right to the end. It’s hard to imagine a more exciting way to end a season. It was a huge challenge and I stayed in the frame of mind where I told myself I had nothing to lose,” she adds. I’m really reassured that it’s all over.
