Biathlon: Franziska Preuss loses points to Lou Jeanmonnot
This Friday evening, during the Biathlon World Cup sprint in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic), the battle for the women’s globe may have reached a turning point.
Leading the standings by 92 points from Lou Jeanmonnot, Germany’s Franziska Preuss finished fifteenth, losing 29 points to her rival, fourth on the day. With six races to go, 63 points now separate the two biathletes.

“I’m not really satisfied with my day, she admitted to the German Ski Association. The last standing shot upset me, but one mistake in the sprint is OK. I wasn’t feeling too bad physically on the track, but in a way, there was a goal and we were rather crushed by the others.”
With the same shot, Franziska Preuss finished 27 seconds behind Lou Jeanmonnot. “The level was incredibly high and there were a lot of perfect shots! From a performance point of view, it’s not a bad race, but it’s not good for the overall, she regrets. That’s how it is, and tomorrow in the pursuit, I can hope to gain a few places.”
