Biathlon: Voldiya Galmace-Paulin wants to continue her progress in the IBU Cup before setting her sights firmly on the World Cup
Back in April, when looking ahead to the winter ahead after a year marked by a small globe in the IBU Cup, Voldiya Galmace-Paulin told us in our columns that the World Cup was “in the back of [her] mind”.
She added, however, that it was “more for the future”, as the Montblanc native first wants to “continue to be regular and gain experience in the IBU Cup”.

The talented biathlete from Villard-sur-Boëge (Haute-Savoie) will still be competing in the junior category over the coming winter. Seven months later, just before leaving for a training camp in Bessans (Savoie), 20-year-old Voldiya Galmace-Paulin looked back on her first summer in the French B team.
It went really well,” she told Nordic Magazine. We were a good group with the girls and we had the chance to do most of the training courses with the French senior team. I took it as a great opportunity because it’s not every day you get to train with the best athletes in the world. For us youngsters, it shows us what training can be like for more experienced biathletes.
“I’m going to try and get my bearings in these races, which I’m really taking as a final rehearsal before the IBU Cup”.
Thanks to her performances last winter, Voldiya Galmace-Paulin will be competing for a place in the World Cup on 15, 16 and 18 November at the FFS selections in Bessans. Competing against Camille Bened, Paula Botet, Gilonne Guigonnat, Amandine Mengin and Sophie Chauveau, she will be trying to secure one of the three tickets on offer.
It’s not necessarily my main objective for these selections,” admits the native of the Nord region. Instead, I’m going to try and get my bearings in these races, which I’m really taking as a final rehearsal before the IBU Cup, which starts at the beginning of December.

In November, Voldiya Galmace-Paulin’s course of action hasn’t changed one iota: the focus is on the IBU Cup, where she wants to continue to establish herself, rather than the World Cup.
A year ago, the Haut-Savoyard said she was aiming for the Junior Cup rather than the IBU Cup… before spending the whole winter on the B circuit.
