Biathlon : “It was a really special moment”, says Johannes Dale-Skjevdal
Some victories count double. The one won by Johannes Dale-Skjevdal on Sunday in the pursuit at Ruhpolding (Germany) undoubtedly belongs in this category. From a sporting point of view, the Norwegian had a superb race with a 19/20 and a superb last loop to beat Peiserot Eric Perrot. From a human point of view, he experienced an even greater moment: his first World Cup victory ahead of his 4-month-old son Jon.
“It was the first time we brought my son here [to the World Cup]. It was a really special moment. […] I also did a great job behind the rifle. I’m really pleased. […] My last two races were perhaps the best races I’ve done, in terms of shooting. It’s a very good feeling,” the Norwegian told the Chaîne L’Equipe.

In the stands, his partner Kristin was following the chase, their son Jon in her arms. “I’m so stressed, but also so happy. It’s so well deserved,” she told NRK after the finish.
At the finish, Johannes Dale-Skjevdal was reunited with his family in the mixed zone. ” I don’t know if he found it exciting, but it’s important for us to share these moments. I can see that it matters,” explained the Norwegian, smiling broadly.

In the Norwegian clan, no one was mistaken. Team-mate Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen summed up the mood with a touch of humour: “It’s the daddy effect. It’s Jon’s first World Cup weekend, and look at Dale: he’s beaming!
This victory in Ruhpolding confirms the excellent momentum of the Norwegian, who took his fourth individual podium of the season (his first victory). He will now head for the Lavazè Pass (Italy) to continue his preparations for the Olympic Games in Milan/Cortina. He will therefore skip the world cup stage in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic) next weekend.
