Biathlon: Jeanne Richard worked on her shooting this summer
As the French women’s biathletes embarked on their training camp in Ramsau (Austria) on Tuesday , Jeanne Richard from Haut-Savoie spoke to the media a few days ago.
The biathlete from Les Gets (Haute-Savoie) took the time to reflect on her summer after returning from a mini training camp organised on the slopes of Mont Ventoux, in the Vaucluse region.

The Olympic season is special [because] you always have the Games in the back of your mind, but that doesn’t mean you have to revolutionise your training,” she explained to Ski Chrono. I’ve worked a lot on my shooting speed, an area in which I have a lot of room for improvement. The aim is to maintain my shooting quality, by being quicker to set up and quicker to shoot my first ball. [We’ll see if it pays off this winter.
“I want to keep it fun”.
With five girls in the top ten at the last World Cup and a host of other biathletes pushing hard for a place in the French squad, the 23-year-old from Montblanc is naturally aiming for the Olympic Games in Italy next February.
We’re going to have to perform well from the start of the season, with six World Cup races before the Games,” she says. We’re going to have to be consistent if we hope to be selected.

However, Jeanne Richard reveals that she has “no numerical targets, just personal ones”.
“The pressure has to be positive. I want to continue to enjoy myself. I’m sure that performance will come from having fun on the track. I take a lot of inspiration from Antonin Guigonnat, who has always been able to combine pleasure and top-level sport, and I like the way he does that. I’ve done some very interesting work on the mental side of things, and I think that’s important if we’re to tackle this season in the best possible way”, she concludes.
