Biathlon : Johannes Thingnes Boe and Franziska Preuss lead the overall standings after Le Grand-Bornand
On Sunday, the third leg of the 2024/2025 Biathlon World Cup came to an end in Le Grand-Bornand (Haute-Savoie). After no fewer than twenty-two events, including eight individual ones for each gender, a hierarchy is beginning to emerge.
In the overall rankings, Norway’s Johannes Thingnes Boe leads the way. With 569 points collected, the Scandinavian is the current holder of the yellow bib. While his position was fragile before this Bornand stage, he now has a 115-point margin over Sturla Holm Lægreid (454).

Behind, in third place, we find Emilien Jacquelin (373) then Eric Perrot (368), Sebastian Samuelsson (364) and Verbjoern Soerum (310), with Fabien Claude (260) and Quentin Fillon-Maillet (233) following in the top 10.
Sixteenth, American Campbell Wright (207) has the blue bib of best U23, ahead of Vitalii Mandzyn (161), his most serious rival.
On the women’s side, Germany’s Franziska Preuss, who once again performed brilliantly in the Aravis mountains, took an early lead. With 565 points, she is ahead of Elvira Oeberg (371) and Lou Jeanmonnot (352). Jeanne Richard (260), eighth overall, is spending the festive season with the blue bib of best U23. In this specific hierarchy, she is 25 points behind Selina Grotian (235).

In the speciality rankings, the overall leaders also topped the sprint and pursuit rankings. In the mass-start, Franziska Preuss is also in red, as is her compatriot Danilo Rietmueller on the men’s side.
There were no relay races this week, so there were no changes. Sweden is still leading the women’s dance with 155 points. The French follow close behind (150) thanks to their two second places at the start of the winter. Germany (131) completes the provisional podium. On the men’s side, with two victories to their name, Les Bleus are the logical leaders (180) ahead of Norway (150).
France well placed in the all-important Nations Cup
Finally, in the Nations Cup, which this winter will be crucial in determining the Olympic quotas for Milan/Cortina 2026, Norway (2,932) has widened its lead in the men’s rankings over France (2,867), Sweden (2,529) and Germany (2,490).

In the women’s category, France remains in first place with 2,843 points. Sweden (2,755), Germany (2,644) and Norway (2,411) follow.
