Biathlon : Johannes Thingnes Boe and Franziska Preuss lead the general standings
On Sunday, the second leg of the 2024/2025 Biathlon World Cup came to an end in Hochfilzen (Austria). After no fewer than sixteen events, including five individual ones for each gender, a hierarchy is beginning to emerge.

In the overall rankings, Norway’s Johannes Thingnes Boe leads the way. With 339 points, the Scandinavian is the current holder of the yellow bib, but his position is fragile as Sturla Holm Lægreid (304) is only 35 points behind. Behind him in third place are Emilien Jacquelin (246), followed by Eric Perrot (222), Sebastian Samuelsson (208) and Endre Stroemsheim (199). Fabien Claude (180) and Quentin Fillon-Maillet (162) round off the top 10.

Fourteenth-placed American Campbell Wright (134) has the blue bib of best U23, ahead of Vitalii Mandzyn (98).

On the women’s side, Germany’s Franziska Preuss, who was solid in the Tyrol, got the better of Elvira Oeberg, who came out on top in Hochfilzen. With 325 points, she is now ahead of Lou Jeanmonnot (296) and the Swede (283). Marketa Davidova (223) is fourth on 102 points, whileOcéane Michelon (138), in eleventh place, is leader of the U23 ranking and has the blue bib.

In this specific hierarchy, she is followed by Germany’s Julia Tannheimer (131) on 7 points, while Jeanne Richard (121) and Sara Andersson (103) are not far behind.
Two Frenchmen in red, Sweden crowned relay queen
In the specialities rankings, two Frenchmen will be wearing red bibs in Le Grand-Bornand this week: Eric Perrot in the mass-start on Sunday and Lou Jeanmonnot in the pursuit on Saturday. Johannes Thingnes Boe has the red bib for the sprint and pursuit, while Franziska Preuss will wear it for the sprint and Elvira Oeberg for the mass-start.

In the relays, Sweden is still leading the women’s race with 155 points. The French follow close behind (150) thanks to their two second-place finishes at the start of the winter. Germany (131) completes the provisional podium. On the men’s side, with two victories to their name, Les Bleus are the logical leaders (180) ahead of Norway (150).
France well placed in major Nations Cup
Finally, in the Nations Cup, which will be crucial this winter in determining the Olympic quotas for Milan/Cortina 2026, France came second with 2,466 points, i.e…. 12 fewer than Norway (1,478). Sweden (2,169) is third, ahead of Germany (2,085).

In the women’s category, France, edged out by Sweden after Kontiolahti (Finland), is well in first place with a total of 2,148 points. The Scandinavians follow with 2,386, then Germany (2,212).
