Biathlon: Johannes Thingnes Boe remains the sprint king
Until now, Johannes Thingnes Boe had won three small sprint globes during his career. This Friday, in sunnyOslo-Holmenkollen (Norway), the Norwegian added a fourth to his collection in one of his last appearances on the biathlon world cup.

The biathlete who has won five crystal globes was at the top of his game, scoring an outstanding 10/10 in front of his home crowd. Although he was unwell last weekend in Pokljuka (Slovenia), the Scandinavian seems to have recovered well. With his mastery, he claimed a symbolic victory, as it was his hundredth sprint start.
It was an emotional success just two days before his retirement: “It’s a wonderful adventure. To finish like that in Holmenkollen… I couldn’t have dreamt of anything better. I couldn’t have ended it happier,” he congratulated TV2 in the mixed zone.

It was a real celebration of a whole nation, made all the better by the Norwegian group’s superb overall performance. Five of them finished in the day’s top 5. Behind them, Sturla Holm Lægreid, Johannes Dale-Skjevdal, Isak Frey and Vebjoern Soerum helped their country shine on home soil: “It’s a day we’ll never forget,” even announced Marius Skjelbæk, consultant for the Norwegian channel.

Hedda Dæhli Boe, who was on hand to witness her husband’s final laps of the track, seemed moved after Johannes Thingnes Boe’s performance. “It’s very special. He’s better, but I don’t think he’s fully recovered. He never ceases to surprise me,” she admitted. It’s going to be great to have him home more often.
